Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines Announces New Investment in Manitoulin Island

Ontario's Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines issued a public statement regarding its most recent aquaculture projects in Manitoulin Island, Ontario. Greg Rickford, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, issued the following statement: "We're helping local businesses create good jobs and do work that support's Manitoulin's growing aquaculture industry". In total, and according to the information posted on the government of Ontario's website, the government of Ontario will be investing $1.2 million in three businesses: 
  1. John O Foods: $1 million to develop a freshwater caged trout aquaculture system in partnership with Sheshegwaning First Nation.
  2. Meeker Management Services: $156,000 to develop its StormSafe product, which protects farmed fish from ice and storms. 
  3. Caselton Aquaculture: $66,000 for new equipment. 
Minister Greg Rickford also issued the following statement: "Supporting local businesses creates opportunities, diversifies the economy and, most importantly, lets people know that Ontario is open for business and open for jobs".
